When choosing a blanket, you certainly want to choose the best from what is offered on the market and, as they say, not for all the money in the world. We will analyze in detail the qualities of the two most popular blankets: sintepon and silicone, so that you can make the right choice.
A synthetic winterizer blanket is a blanket, the insulation of which is a synthetic winterizer roll filler. It is the first synthetic filler to be used in the textile industry. Over time, its characteristics improved and in its manufacture they stopped adding caustic glue, which connected the fibers together, replacing the adhesive method with a thermal one, in which there are no harmful fumes. Polyester fibers used in the production of synthetic winterizer have a full-bodied structure.
The silicone blanket is made of polyester hollow fiber, thanks to which it retains heat well. Further, the fibers are treated with silicone lubricant, which reduces or almost completely eliminates electrification, increases the service life of the filler, improves the creasing and shape recovery after deformation.
Which blanket is better silicone or synthetic winterizer
The synthetic winterizer blanket retains heat well, it is light and does not cause allergies. A blanket with padding polyester is sold at the most affordable price - this is a definite plus. It is easy to care for, machine washable and dries quickly. These qualities can be safely attributed to the undoubted advantages. The disadvantages include the rapid loss of shape with non-single-winged deformations. This is due to the properties of polyester fibers, which, due to their structure, degrade over time and cannot fully perform their original functions. In simple words, the synthetic winterizer, when compressed, is poorly restored. The average service life of a synthetic winterizer blanket is about 3 years, with care. Regular shaking and washing with special balls that prevent the formation of lumps. After three years of use, the synthetic winterizer blanket will also perform its functions, but in a truncated version, because the filler will settle down by about half, thereby worsening the thermal insulation properties of the blanket. Blanket with a density of 300g/m2 for use in winter, after 3 years it will become a demi-season blanket. :-) Also, an undoubted disadvantage is the electrification of a synthetic winterizer blanket, which, however, is easy to overcome with the help of antistatic treatment.
A silicone blanket better than a synthetic winterizer protects the body from the cold, thanks to its hollow structure and the presence of air in its structure. Air is known to be the best heat insulator. With the same density, a blanket with silicone will be lighter than a padding polyester, but warmer. The silicone blanket can be safely washed and wrung out in an automatic machine. It is well breathable, and when using a cover made of microfiber or natural cotton, it also absorbs moisture. Fibers treated with silicone do not cause allergies and are completely safe for health, as silicone is a natural material with fantastic properties. Due to silicone enveloping impregnation, polyester fibers do not electrify with each other. Silicone promotes better bendability of the fibers and improves their ability to recover their shape. Due to this, a silicone blanket, on average, lasts twice as long as a synthetic winterizer. The cost of a silicone blanket is higher than that of a synthetic winterizer, but not twice. Therefore, the benefit of its acquisition is obvious.
Let's summarize. Definitely, a silicone blanket is better than a synthetic winterizer in a number of characteristics, but the buyer himself must still make the final choice. Since the choice depends on a number of parameters. If a person likes to change his home textiles often, then a synthetic winterizer blanket is a good and inexpensive choice. And if there is a question about purchasing a quality blanket that will last about 5-6 years, then the choice should be stopped on a silicone blanket.
