Criteria for the strength of bed linen
The first criterion, of course, is the density, it can be of two types: surface - it shows the amount of material per unit area and the number of threads per area of the fabric. They seem to be similar concepts, but they talk about completely different indicators. In the first case, the indicator is measured in g / m2, in the second - in threads / m2.
With the surface method of measurement, the best indicator is considered to be bedding with a density of 125-13g / m2. In the second, the higher the indicator, the better the set and the thinner and stronger. For information: the density of deluxe satin is 300TC, for jacquard premium 520TC. These premium long-staple Egyptian cotton fabrics are extremely thin and incredibly durable.
The second criterion is the composition of the kit. Polyester fibers are durable and do not swell when washed, that is, they do not erase the outer layer over and over again. Therefore, polyester sets look like new even after repeated washings. Linen fiber is stronger than cotton due to its structure. It hardly changes its shape when washed and has a three times longer life than cotton. But do not completely discount the good old cotton. After special treatments, bed sets from it also acquire high strength.
The most durable bedding sets from the following fabrics
The most durable, let's be honest, are 100% polyester CPBs, there is no demolition. Even after 5 years of constant washing, a quality synthetic set will be like new.
This is followed by a linen bed, it can withstand more than 500 washing cycles without significant loss of strength and appearance. If the dye is of high quality, even the color will remain unchanged for 3-5 years, depending on the intensity of use of the linen.
Bed linen made of deluxe satin, which has necessarily passed the mercerization process, in which swollen fibers are cut off after dipping in a natural acid solution, is the third on the list. This is an elite class bedding, the softest and thinnest like silk, but durable and resistant to deformation and shrinkage.
Washed cotton underwear completes our list of the most durable sets. After steam treatment under high temperature and pressure, cotton fibers acquire flexibility, softness, but at the same time increased strength.
